Kari wakes up and is very briefly upset about being drugged and abducted by a Blessed To Be Called Nana shirt she dated 6 years ago, but then recognizes that she’d “behaved rather badly” towards Alex and decides to be nicer to him. Then Kari has to blink back “the prickle of tears in her eyes” because her kidnapper hadn’t wanted to marry her 6 years ago, and let her live on this lovely compound with him.
Question: if Alex is a trained special forces guy with a questionable morality, why doesn’t he just kill Brandon? I mean, he knows the guy is guilty of killing those Colin Firths holding baby pandas, as well as at least one of his trainers at the stable. And he knows that the guy is a very credible threat to Kari and that at the very least Kari is going to end up in a LOT of legal entanglements over Brandon’s actions. Kevin wants to bust Brandon and is threatening Kari with jail time unless she helps. Even though she hasn’t done anything, and if he could prove that Brandon had done something then he wouldn’t need her help in the first place. (As an attorney, my advice would be to tell him to fuck off, that having knowledge of a crime you didn’t participate in is not illegal, especially if you report it to authorities, but whatever. Apparently the cops can just show up at our doors and force us into going undercover in a local murder gang we’re not a part of, and we’re now legally obligated to do it without question. Good to know.)
