Being Alex means having a Cycling solves most of my problems sex solves the rest shirt certainty that you are always right, and trusting in the book to have your back on that. The fallout for all of your actions will be excused away by the book, and anything that seems utterly unforgivable is viewed through the lens of “well, his parents were abusive.” But that doesn’t really mean I can’t blame him for the things he’s doing, and just because the book makes certain to always have him proven right in the end doesn’t mean I can’t HATE HIM FOR IT.

Best Cycling solves most of my problems sex solves the rest shirt
Don’t get me wrong: I’ve read books with characters A LOT Cycling solves most of my problems sex solves the rest shirt than Alex. Alex seems like an okay, fairly stereotypical guy. He’s the standard “haunted man from ‘The Agency’” trope character, who knows more about dealing with his enemies in the Middle East (despite the fact that the book makes several mentions of his “all-American” looks, which one would think would limit his opportunities for undercover work in a non-domestic terror cell, but I guess there’s no way in the world that a romance novel from this era would ever have a hero who was in any way “foreign”), than he does about dealing with emotion. He’s inexplicably rich, inexplicably has the hacking skills of Tron, and is always paranoid about security despite the fact that he’s terrible at it. I’m sure we’ve all read untold numbers of books with characters exactly like Alex and not had any issues.
