The first Fight for your dream T Shirt is the opportunity cost. You’re going to be a graduate student for 5 years. The salaries for graduate students are a lot better than what they used to be (an NSF fellowship is $30k or so, I think they were $18k when I was beginning grad school). But you’re probably making more than that now and depending on what your fixed costs are (family?), this may be sizable burden, or may be not. The work hours for grad students I think are overstated. I think public high school teachers work harder and more focused than grad students [*]. The real question is whether you can find the right research environment to get your Ph.D. so that you are enjoying yourself during those 4 to 8 tough years (forgot to mention that, you don’t have a set schedule to graduate, you have to create it yourself and it requires a bit of luck to get done on time).
You were once a student of the school and I’m sure your school will be very happy to see their Fight for your dream T Shirt doing well in his/her life and above all, your teachers and juniors will love to know that in spite of your fast-paced life you have taken the time to remember and revisit your school. Revisiting your school after a long time or maybe even after a year or two will bring back wonderful memories of the boisterous sounds of your first day at school, the aroma of the food in the cafeteria, exams and even punishments that you had received in your school days.

I am fairly well-known in the Fight for your dream T Shirtfield for making horror oriented games, having a largely horror-oriented youtube channel, and even producing a horror movie.I still get scared in horror movies, and people who say they are not scared mystify me. Dude, if you are not scared, why see horror? It seems to me that watching horror if you’re not scared is like watching a comedy that never makes you laugh. Switch it off and do something else. Leave me alone to tremble in the dark.
Then in the Fight for your dream T Shirt, globalization (esp of labor) really took off. Germany was again rebuilding with the fall of the Berlin wall. What Germany did well, was protect their base labor force and manufacturing (the US outsourced). Additionally, Germany has an extremely strong union system (since so few have college degrees and are trained in trades of some sort). When the US was mostly a manufacturing and export powerhouse, future generations did well. When it shifted to debt fueled economy and domestic service sector, the possibility of doing better than previous generations died. Debt is the destroyer.Australia was never really an exporting manufacturer. Certainly nowhere near the scale of of the US or UK, so it’s not really a good comparison. Australia is too far from anywhere, has too high wages, and too low population to compete in manufacturing. In addition, Australia is actually very good in terms of income equality, particularly when compared to it’s very high income peers, and is the wealthiest country in the world in terms of median wealth. So we would appear to be doing something right.Primary production can’t really be outsourced. Manufacturing can and a lot of services can.
