oh wow!!! pickins are slim in the south but i *think* i can get a Grab Him By The Ballot November 3 shirt job – hopefully based in NYC so i don’t have to hang with the west coast hours. that salary sounds like what i’ve heard is average in most larger cities, including for remote work. i wish orgs would just list the salary for goodness sake. anyway, i have several direct reports and actually direct the fundraising at an org with multiple nonprofit arms right now so i def think i could make more doing the same job elsewhere. i hope so or else i’m never going to be able to afford this floyd sofa i just learned about!

Best Grab Him By The Ballot November 3 shirt
Great question! the true answer is…it’s all about Grab Him By The Ballot November 3 shirt who you know. i think it’s REALLY hard to leave teaching, first of all, thanks to deep cultural misogyny that devalues the work of child care and education. i was competitive for my current job for two reasons: i knew a bunch of people in the org (including bestie k, mentioned above, who really lobbied for me to get it), and because i had experience doing devo work basically as a volunteer. i co founded an org in my 20s and had lots of grantwriting and grassroots fundraising experience there and as a teacher by the time i left. but it was honesty a long shot. i’m a director after several promotions – came in entry level.
my husband is currently trying to leave teaching (or considering it anyway) and it’s been tough to figure out options even though he’s so talented and multifaceted. it seems like edtech is his best option. after that, starting a side hustle that then becomes full time (as a woodworker), or, last resort, we tack on more loans and he gets a graphic design degree 😕
