Jesus is quite literal with his sayings. There are many sayings throughout that is trying to tell his I Wanna Rock Your Gypsy Soul Into The Mystic Guitar Lake Shirt that they are stuck in the old way of thinking, the old wine or old patch. All the prophets before Jesus were on the right track, but they did not know the whole truth, but Jesus does. And so, he says that we should not keep living by the Old Testament way of thinking, and instead we should live how he is saying we should live. We see this just before with Thomas 46.
There quite a bit more I want to write outside of the gospel sayings, so I’ll just end with two more points. One is that Jesus is very adamant that while he is the Son of God, the truth is we are all sons (and daughters, remember souls don’t have a gender) of the Father, and we are just like Jesus in terms of a soul in a human body (Thomas 15). The difference is Jesus is likely a Spirit who was awakened in the Father’s realm and was sent to earth, while we are souls who don’t know anything about the spirit side of things, unless we learn from Jesus. And well, Jesus hits a bit hard with Thomas 55… Jesus doesn’t mean we should hate our family, but as part of recognizing that we are a soul, nothing about our soul is tied to our biological family. That’s an Old Testament tradition of loving your family above all else sort of thing. But it is more than ok to be close and love family members. And you can finish off this thought with Thomas 99.

Best I Wanna Rock Your Gypsy Soul Into The Mystic Guitar Lake Shirt
And regarding his crucifixion where he sacrificed himself to save us from the original sin of Adam and Eve, that’s the thing. God the Father is not vengeful I Wanna Rock Your Gypsy Soul Into The Mystic Guitar Lake Shirt. He is the creator of all, and He is actually all around us. He does not want to harm us, just as he will not perform specific miracles for us if we gain His favour. He just is, is loving, will always be there for eternity, and the most beautiful thing we (our soul, not our earthly identity) can experience is to have the opportunity to join him by being re-born as a Spirit. Look at Thomas 37, Jesus asks us to be little children (where we are willing to learn, but also when we did not have all our adult knowledge) and take off our clothes (our animal flesh) and trample it. Then we will truly see that the kingdom of heaven does live inside of us. It is us. So, regarding his crucifixion, for us we saw it as the ‘ultimate sacrifice’, his ‘life’ was taken away. But Jesus knew that he was a spirit and that his life in his physical human body was not the goal. He sacrificed his body (and experienced the physical pain with it, just as we would) to show us what he taught us, in the hopes of erasing our original sin… which is the mindset of the Old Testament. Since Adam and Eve, we were lost, we believe that we are not worthy of God, we believe he will punish us if we do wrong, we feel guilt and shame (about our bodies, and our actions), and we think we are weak and can’t do much without God intervening to save us. But no, Jesus says that we are spiritual beings, who, through the connection of the Holy Spirit (lots of talk on the Holy Spirit in Gospel of Thomas), we can truly connect with the Father.
