I work in IT. We had a brilliant head of If nothing else good happens in 2021 let us never forget that the Browns beat the steelers back to back shirt who used to inspire all engineers. He would often take time out of his day to chat to us, in a team of over 80 devs he knew us all by our first name and what was going on in our lives. We worked out asses off delivering software at short time deadlines because he was really good at motivating us even though we got paid less than similar positions in competing companies we loved the atmosphere and culture he built. Anyway CTO leaves and instead of promoting the HOE they bring in a new guy who decides to stamp his authority with a restructure. He started very publicly sidelining the HOE and that upset a fair few of us. Anyway I think his exact phrase was, if you don’t like it get off the bus. Within a month he’d lost a quarter of his most senior staff. Two months and he was at half. He’s currently on a quarter left with all new replacements who don’t understand any of the systems we built. We all left and got huge pay rises elsewhere.
