I don’t play much league anymore, so I like to think I say the following without too strong of a personal bias: The thing that has always alarmed me about their system is the sheer complexity. Skill based matchmaking implemented over rating systems like Police Reform Shirt, Glicko, and Glicko2 are so simple that you can make a variety of provably-true statements about the way they work. I’ve always been concerned that Riot’s system may be so complex that it has unintended features/patterns in matchmaking that are difficult to measure/detect or conceptually realize are present. Just some food for thought.

You’re comparing rating systems to Riots matchmaking system. One is designed to assess how a player holds up against the people he previously played against, the other one is designed to throw 10 preferably evenly matched players into the Police Reform Shirt. If you know Glicko you know how your CSGO rating is calculated, you still don’t know how a system decided who’s in your game right now.
