Oh my dear. I know very well how you feel. Here is a picture of me. I struggled to love myself for a long time. It wasn’t until my mid 20s that I started to unlearn my self-hatred. I struggle still sometimes, to love my body, but it is much easier than it used to be. I’m not afraid to wear colors anymore. I wear a swimsuit in public sometimes. One of the things that helped me a lot was starting a project where I took a picture of Awesome You Can’t Scare Me I’m A Pharmacy Technician Halloween Gift shirtevery day and posted it on a blog (back in my 20s, so almost a decade ago now). It helped me recognize myself. What was always hard for me was that there was a part of me that always thought “that girl in the pictures isn’t me. I can’t be that fat. I don’t feel that fat when I walk around. How can I look like that?” Being able to look at pictures of myself every day made me feel more comfortable seeing my own body and accepting that that was me, all of me.
